ROBERT PACKER HOSPITAL-ENERGY MASTER PLAN

The 1,000,000+ square foot Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA underwent the first phase of an Energy Plan. Currently the Hospital is saving $584,000/yr. on gas and electric costs alone. The cost of the program was $3,000,000 before rebates. Although the program was cost-intensive, rebates and yearly cost savings drive the program below a 5-year payback. The stats on Robert Packer’s Master Energy Plan can be seen below:

EXCELA HEALTH LATROBE-AIRFLOW REDUCTION AND AIR HANDLER UPGRADES

The Excela Latrobe Area Hospital recently optimized a 120,000-cfm air handler. The optimization included reducing airflows to ASHRAE code values, adding VFDs on supply and return fans, and upgrading controls to allow air-side economizing. The reduction in airflows rebalanced critical space pressurization to ensure Joint Commission compliance and helped to reduce approximately 100 kW of electrical load. Due to the maximization of rebates and energy savings of the project, payback before and after rebates is less than 1 year. The stats on Excela Latrobe’s AHU project can be seen below:

WELLSPAN SURGERY AND REHAB HOSPITAL-NEW BUILDING RETRO-COMMISSIONING

Wellspan Success Story

Although the Wellspan Surgery and Rehab Hospital was a recently built facility (2012), a retro- commissioning program found significant energy reduction opportunities via airflow rebalancing, and controls tuning. The payback was virtually non-existent with various Act129 rebate opportunities found throughout the facility. Stats on Wellspan’s new build retro-commissioning can be seen below:
